15 hours if you drive it. 3 hours by air (including travelling to the airport but not the waiting around.)

Can't wait to go back to uni at the end of September, then it'll be 0mins as we're in the same house!

it sort of sucks to have your bf live as far away from you as its possible to live

Takes me an 1.5 hours to get to his house from my town, but once we're at uni it'll take me around 3 hours on the train from london to sheffield
I ticked the 3-4 hours bit, but thinking about it, it's probably longer. I only worked out the coach journey, but there's getting to and from to coach too. Sucks. :frown:

Will be longer when I head back to uni too.
3-4 hours if either of us can get the usual train route. Plus diversion it comes to 5 and a half hours.
I don't know what it'll be once I go to uni. Hopefully a bit less.
LDR's - one of the worst things the internet has created, along with child pornography.
When not at uni he is in Somerset and I on the Wirral. When I went to visit I left home at 3pm and arrived at the station at 8.30pm so thats over 5hours. Thats only for the holidays though so not too bad but bad enough.

Trust me when I say this, LDR's have been around a lot longer than the old Arpanet.

My LDR was 4-5 hours on a good day. Managed all of University. Hooray for me and good luck to the rest of you!!
errr london heathrow to texas- about 6 hours by plane :frown:
over 4000 miles away (permanant)

Erm, uni first year, it was about 3 hours, London (him) to Nottingham. Wasn't too bad, saw him every 2 weeks, sometimes more often. He was on gap year working so he visited fairly regularly. This year, it will be Leicester to Nottingham, which is about 20 minutes by train.. not long distance at all.  Oh, and when at home, it's only 40 minutes by bus, even shorter on the train!

About 1 hour away when we're at university from Sheffield to Nottingham on the train (including getting to each others houses etc). I think I'm pretty lucky in terms of distance since if needs be it's not hard to just jump on the train to see each other.

Child pornography existed before the internet, it just wasn´t as widely publicised for obvious reasons.

And my LDR wasn´t created by the internet although a lot are. The internet actually helps mine
Why is less than one hour an option? :s-smilie: It's not long distance then.

I don't know, I think "long distance" can be a relative term. Like, if you'd lived next door to your boyfriend for a couple of years and then he moved an hour away and for whatever reason you couldn't see him for a few months, then I can't see how that's any different to him living two, three or four hours away.

It's not technically a 'long distance' to travel, but you're not together, so...
My point is still valid, I'm certain the amount and extent of LDR's and child pornography has increased as a result of the internet.

And I know I'm going to offend someone by saying this, but i don't think I could possibly have a long distance 'relationship'. I need contact hours.

^^ You're going to have to be away from your loved one at some point, unless neither of you go to university and you get married straight out of school, or you meet after university when you both work in the same place or something - there seems little way to avoid an LDR of some kind.

I ticked 5+ hours because that's what it was when I was at Exeter. Right after I'd ticked it I realised I'm not there anymore so it's probably less than that. Probably even less given that he was in Lyon while I was at Exeter and now he's in Paris while I'm in the South East.

When calculating how long it takes to get there, are people here including all the waiting time at/travelling to airports/train stations etc? By the time you've done all that travelling and waiting it probably is almost 5 hours including the journey, even just going London-Paris!

lol, where is he? my bf is going to be in australia for about 7 months this coming year which I think is about that distance. He's going to smuggle me back a koala  (I like to think so anyway).

yea mine's gone to aus for a month, its not nice!

You've obviously never had an interplanetary LDR.
