# rate against conc graphs watch

1. guys can someone pls help me with part b of this question
the choices were
A
B
C
D respectively
rate against conc graph for sec order is supposed to be a postitive curve (which doesnt exist as one of the graphs) but the answer is graph B!! is this becase it said rate against conc squared??? what does that mean

2. so essentially what i think is going is that on a normal rate of reaction against conc graph for second order we would see the positive curve, since rate = k(reactant)^2 therefore by having conc^2 as the x axis, the second order graph will be directly proportional i.e a straight line as the rate of reaction is proportional to the concentration of that reactant squared.

So this graph shows that the rate of reaction is directly proportional to the concentration squared which is second order.

thank you very much
