So I don't have a TV that I can connect it to right now. Student life.
I've got my monitor which is the Samsung SyncMaster 940BW - If anyone wants to google it, pretty terrible monitor.
Since it doesn't have a HDMI slot; it has a DVI I'm sure. How would I set it up with my PS4? Also in a way where I can also use the PC for my normal day-to-day use, will I need a DVI cable?

HDMI and DVI are interoperable, you can buy cables quite cheaply for that: https://www.amazon.co.uk/AmazonBasic...dp_ob_title_ce
The tricky bit is sound. DVI doesn't support audio, and your PC monitor may not even have any speakers. So you need a different adapter in order to get audio out: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ViewHD-Ster.../dp/B008LOIKX6
So together that would give you PS4 -> adapter -> audio to speakers, HDMI out -> HDMI to DVI cable -> screen monitor.
Though if you're using a headset/headphones you can skip the adapter bit and just use the HDMI-DVI cable.
