Due to this being the last year before the GCSE Exams, it has been decided that it is mandatory for all students of the school I attend to find and go to a work experience placement for a maximum time of a week. Obviously, I'm in a problem because I've always aimlessly chosen what I've liked and not thought of a time beyond University before Year 9.
So, I've decided I like Systems and Control (A subject which is now being absorbed into one universal subject called Design Tech) which is a subject which involves soldering electronics and learning laws of motion. I also like Computer Science very much, especially hardware work in the computer and programming.
My question is, can I get a proper work experience placement with those subjects in mind, or will it be better to try something else? What sort of work experience should I expect?

    Thanks in advance

If there's a company in your area that deals with what you'd like to go into, go ahead and ask. The worst they could say is no. If not, then start thinking outside the box a bit and consider what may be related to it. Maybe you could do it in the DT teaching department of your school? That's what I did. It was pretty good because it meant I was helping kids with their work all day, and teaching them to do what I'd already learned.
