Yes this is a correct way of writing. however, I dont think you can use any kind of formatting at all on the UCAS application. Sorry :frown:

not really by keeping formatting it means everyone is one a equal footing and people can't try to said out by having bold or bigger fonts etc etc. its all judged on the quality of the PS then.

Yes but the Personal Statement is an academic document, if people aren't allowed basic formatting to be suitably academic then there is something fundamentally wrong.

Just use apostrophes or simply leave it in the normal format, everyone is in the same boat so it isn't as though the admissions tutors are going to have a fit because you haven't italicised a book name...
But putting ' ' takes up two more of my characters... disaster D:
