    Hi everyone,

I completed my PGCE in July this year.
The problem is that my last placement (School) has refused to provide me with a reference. I haven't worked even as a supply since September because the agencies which; most schools use nowadays can not get response from the school.

I have called and even wrote to the head teacher of the school but with no success. I just think that it is unfair that i live on job-seekers allowance (£71 per week) when i can work and earn more (£120 per day)... furthermore i have a family to take care of.

Can someone please advice me on the right step or action to take. My anxiety level is already up and I am surely headed for unwanted; uninvited depression.

    Please advice

Unfortunately, they are not obliged to provide a reference. Is there any possible reason why they may not want to do so?

References don't have to come from your last placement school - could you not ask another of your placement schools to provide a reference instead? Or you could try contacting your PGCE course provider about this issue and see if they are willing to engage the school on your behalf.
