Work experience for biochemistry!!

Hey, i'm thinking of applying to do biochemistry at a variety of unis... i was wanting to do medicine but changed my mind. in that field i know theyre very particular about applicants having had medical work experience. is there any thing they expect you to have done for other science courses? if not what do i write in my personal statement about work experience :s-smilie:

if anyone studying biochemisty could let me know anything they did or were told to do! thankkkksssssss  xxxxx

My friend who's starting biochem at Cambridge this year did some wrk exp at a huuuuge lab somewhere. I honestly cannot remember what she did, really sorry about that :frown:
And here ends a largely useless post

Most big pharmaceutics offer summer internships - look on their websites. Labs in hospitals are also usually a good bet. Finally, look up the Wellcome Trust and Sutton programmes to gove 6th formers experience over the summer in university labs. I've taken on Wellcome Trust students before...

I applied for biochem this year and got offers from all the 5 universities i applied for biochem at with no work experience, i don't think it's anywhere near as important for science degrees as for medicine etc. However if you do have some work experience it will be something to talk about if you get invited to any interviews

Almost none of the unis interview for biochemistry. Only Oxford and UCL I think.
