Hi, I was wondering if I have to mention programming in a personal statement to be considered. I have already talked about Artificial Intelligence and Human-Computer Interaction and am just under the character limit. Will my application be at an disadvantage with no mention of this.

That will depend a little on which courses you're applying for. Most don't expect you to have a huge amount of coding experience but they will be looking for evidence of problem solving - something that describing a programming solution you've built to solve a problem would do. They'll also usually be looking for aptitude in picking up languages quickly - so again not huge details but demonstrating that you've capable of picking up a new programming language and using it with limited instruction.
