# Help with topic 'Free fall and projectile motion' watch

1. I missed some lessons on this topic and went back and asked the teachers about it but I seem to still not understand this topic very well like calculating the distance traveled or maximum height.

Is it possible for someone to add me on Skype and explain this topic to me?

2. I can give a few tips:
1) list your s u v a t for both the horizontal and vertical eg in vertical a=-9.81m/s^2 normally and horizontally a=0 as air resistance is normally negligible.

2) Chose the equation which contains what you know and the one you're are looking for.

3) Often in projectiles the time of flight is dictated by how long it takes to fall vertically to the ground. So find the time from the vertical side. This time will be the same for the horizontal.

4) If the horizontal has no acceleration you can use the normal velocity=displacement/time to calculate horizontal displacement.

5) Most common mistakes are people forgetting gravity acts down so forgetting the -ve sign and accidentally putting it as horizontal acceleration
