the question i need help with is 3e. Scanned from a Xerox Multifunction Device(1).pdf

I have problem with the question. I believe that the question is asking for the increase in speed during 0.4s with when calculated is 100(mm/s) but the book says 400(mm/s) which is the speed the trolley reachs at 0.4s
I thought that gain in speed means increase in speed

Can someone clarify for me please.

    Thank you

gain in speed does mean increase in speed

The question doesn't say so but the trolley looks like it's supposed to have started at zero velocity.

I think it might be an error in the book tbh.
