Can you recommend a tablet for writing notes in the field? watch

Hello I'm a Geoscience student and I am thinking about buying a tablet for writing notes in the field and also mapping work.
I don't know much about tablets but I would any advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

-Will be used for about 8-9 hours a day during fieldwork (could use a portable charger)

-Will need to survive rain, wind and being dropped (probably use a waterproof case)

-Will be used in bright sun (although a blacked out map case to protect against the glare of the sun could be used)

-Will need to be able to run mapping and orientation data collecting software so have a magnetometer, gyroscope, accelerometer and GPS

I have searched on the internet on buying guides and found a lot of professional use ruggedised tablets which I can't afford so maybe buying a reconditioned one might be an option any advice on that would be good too.
