    Hi everyone,

I'm doing a 8,000 word Linguistics dissertation, and our guideline suggests we should have a 2,000 word literature review, although my supervisor has suggested I do less because my methodology and analysis will need to be longer (we were thinking of something in the region of 1,500 words)

I'm reading past posts about dissertations where people have got 100 plus references, and considering my lecturer said not to mention any other literature unless its been mentioned in the literature review, I'm confused as to how people have got to this number. Do people include in their references things that have been consulted but not directly referenced?

    Thank you
