I'm starting to write my personal statement for sixth form. I was wondering how to structure it, and what to include.

    Hiya,

I'm writing my personal statement at the moment too! This is just some of the info tbat I've been given.

It should be about 80% academic and 20% extracurricular.

Academic stuff relevant to the subject- courses you've been on, books/articles you've read, any events you've been to. Use a few examples and explain what you learnt/skills developed e.t.c and why this is useful for the subject/makes you a strong candidate. This is the section where you show enthusiasm for the subject.

Then talk about your main hobbies/extracurricular activities and the skills that you've developed such a team work, communication, perseverance e.t.c

End with a sentence or two summing up why you want to to the subject and why they should pick you.

    Hope this helps

Thanks . Do you think it's suitable to add previous experiences that may have influence your decision for your career

I think it's good to start with a couple of sentences explaining an what got you interested in the subject e.g. an experience or event
