Depends on the college. I would recommend coming up on Friday or Saturday, although at some colleges you can arrive as late as Sunday. It is best to get settled in a bit before the bulk of other freshers arrive.

You will get advice from the college as to which day to come up on! Some of them have limited parking so might ask you to arrive within a certain window of time (mine did).

Incidentally, Freshers' Week is from the day you come up until lectures start, which is the Thursday after you arrive.

Cool. That's what I was led to understand. Groovy.

If we arrived - like - a day earlier would they leave us out on the streat like vagrants?

Depends on the college. At Trinity you could come up any time that weekend, and even before if you requested. I wouldn't advise coming up really early, because then you will feel a bit stragne and lonely, but coming up a day before most people allows you to arrange you room, buy some things (if needs be) and meet a few other people who have come up early before the deluge of freshers occurrs.

New Hall said 'Freshers are expected to arrive on Saturday October 2nd for the Freshers Programme' although I was hoping to get down on the Friday because I know I'll have forgotten stuff and will have to go out and buy it, but my parents are working on the Friday and can't take me down, so that scuppered that plan.

Since you live in Scotland, you can probably plead distance in order to come up earlier - but ring Housekeeping beforehand to check  Hopefully you won't feel strange and lonely cos us lot will be there to take you out on Friday night (if, of course, you so desire)

Will you do that for me too if I get in?

wouldn't it be a bit long winded for her to fly nearly all the way round the world so that she can "come UP to cambridge from scotland"?

Doesn't matter where you come from, you ALWAYS come up to Cambridge - never go down on it

Acaila - of course I will. You just have to apply to Sidney

My parents have said, with the exception of the start of the year and the end of the year I'll be flying there and home. So I'll be coming up from Luton

Oooh, so are you going up early too? I'm going to be there for a whole week before term starts (assuming the nice accommodation lady has got my letter and I will actually have a room to stay in)

The actual course starts the same as every other, but there is a Prep Maths and Stats course which lasts 2 weeks beforehand.

I actually get there on the 16th, the course starts on the 17th.
