I've recently been talking to a friend who's gone to warwick to study politics (I want to study politics and IR)
He's really depressed right now as his work has been marked down due to his political opinions (He's currently studying marxism). He is struggling socially as almost everyone doesn't accept him because of his political orientation, and he is constantly appealing marking decision, sometimes successfully, sometimes not.
Anyway, he's almost in tears about it and I've heard a lot of bad stories about some unis.

Does anyone know how accepting these unis are of the diversity of opinion?

    What are his political views?

Personal opinion shouldn't even come into essays. I'm sure the markers have very clear academic reasons for giving the mark they did.

Thats odd. I am at Warwick and there is a marxist society that seems a bit of a joke but is actually pretty popular.

I think this quote from you post tells us all we need to know.

I bet he also appealed all of his A levels, demanding a remark in every one. Does he also attempt to correct lecturers mid-flow?

We've all known people like this. They're called 'pains'. His current academic institution isn't the problem here...

Yeah it's sort of a pretty edgy teen rebellious thing, which, like all of those things, teachers/lecturers hate.

He didn't appeal any a levels, as he got all A*, and he is generally silent but he wont fake his view if someone asks.

I'm sorry, but anyone who consistently appeals marking decisions of their university sounds like someone who always knows better, even when he is poorly placed to do so. You always get students like this - they usually grow out of it. As I said, I don't think changing institution will make the slightest difference.
