Hiya!
I've just started a general Biology degree at Bath but not really enjoying most of the modules so was considering reapplying next year for Zoology elsewhere.
Was hoping there would be some current Zoology students or graduates on here that would be willing to share their experiences.
first of all Im confused as the where to apply..quite like the course content at Southampton and Bristol but don't know whether id be better of at somewhere more specialised like Bangor.
Also in terms of the course content itself is it what you expected? Do you get any hands on experience with animals themselves or is it all theory?
And finally...in terms of the degree, are the preconceptions that zoology is a pointless and easy degree true?? or am i looking at the same sort of career prospects as if i were to carry on with my current course.
Cheers!

Maybe you should consider Bristol!
I applied for Zoology at Bristol and have received an offer so I'll probably end up there next year unless I somehow manage to get into Oxford...

I've read that it's very easy to switch between Biology and Zoology at Bristol, which would probably be good thing for you? Maybe go ahead and take a closer look at the course structure?

I'm worried about job prospects as well...but I've heard that as long as you are willing to work hard, it is very possible to land a relevant job.

Good luck with everything!

I'm studying Zoology at Salford and the modules I take cross over strongly with Biology; in fact, EVERY modecule I do is with Biology students. I currently do: Cell Biology, Molecules To Microbes (Chemistry based), Biodiversity and Genetics to Ecosystems as well as a labatory session.
However, in my second year Zoology students are able to become more specialised within the actual animal sector. For example, I am planning to do Primate Behaviour, Marine Biology and Zootonic Diseases next year. I'd stick at Biology for the year and transfer to Zoology for your second year (if thats possible at your university)!
