I am currently studying Musical Theatre Level 3 Extended Diploma at college and I was wondering what choices I should make for university in terms of wanting to be a primary school teacher? I am predicted D*D* and was planning on doing performing as a career because it's a passion mine, however, for a while I've been feeling unsure and steering more towards the direction of primary school teaching. I love working with children and I enjoy academical subjects such as maths and English. I achieved 9 A*-Cs in my GCSEs including Maths (B), English Language ad Literature (A&B) and science (C). I was hoping someone could help and advise me on what I should do and what I can do with these qualifications? Thank you

You couldn't apply everywhere (many places would want national curriculum subjects) but if you get 2 weeks school experience you could have a chance at applying to a primary education degree.

I'm actually in the exact same situation at the moment. I am on my second year of Level 3 BTEC in Performing Arts, last year I achieved the grades D* D* and expected to end this year on D*D*D*. I recently changed my mind and decided a career in Primary School teaching suited me better! I found that most universities accept BTEC's, but if not it is possible to study a degree of your choice then complete a year of PGCE. For me it is an advantage that I have studied performing arts, as it has given me a range of different skills that are critical for the performing arts industry but can be used in a classroom.
