    Hi;

    I'd like to ascertain whether or not it's heard of for a person to be doing an EPQ during a gap year before Uni?

    I had applied for an EPQ this year however was denied on the grounds of consistently scoring Us in my tests, regardless of how well I had a subject knowledge of my desired topic (I read several books on it, alongside keeping up with articles on the subject matter). In my final exams, I scored AAB with extenuating circumstances (a lot of family problems and problems with my own life, which caused quite a bit of anxiety and a panic attack in one of my exams), but was still denied.

    You can see where I'm coming from, and I am wondering whether or not taking an EPQ is even possible in a gap year?

    EPQ is not open to private candidates as it is 100% coursework. The only option would be to be able to persuade your current school to supervise and mark your work (they might reasonably want paying) and enter you as a centre candidate. The exam fee itself is about £50.

    Ah; that might be possible I suppose. I'll have to take it up with my tutor but I'm sure he'll find a way. Thankyou!
