    Could I have some help with question 2b please? The book insists that 12mv^2 is released, however I'm unsure how they come to that conclusion. After calculating the energies before and after the reaction, and subtracting the latter from the former, 2mv^2 is released, however according to the book this is incorrect. Could I have some help please?

    You know that Ek is 0.5mv2. This means that the kinetic energy of the neutron is 0.5 x m x (5V)2. It's not just the V being squared!
