For my AS I achieved AAAC in maths physics chemistry and f.maths respectively. I am currently taking maths physics and chemistry at A2 and im going for A*A*A* because why not. However I regret dropping further maths. I really want to enter my self as private candidate. Is this a bad idea

If you want to take further maths back up after you dropped it, the best thing would be to ask your college if you can self teach the topics you missed and then join back onto their course. You will be at a disadvantage because of the stuff you've missed so far but it will be a lot worse if you go the whole year without a teacher to help you, and you will have to pay for the exam fees entirely yourself if you enter as a private candidate.

You should only try and do this if you think you'll be able to self teach everything you've missed along with learning everything you're doing now, you really don't want to be giving yourself too much work.
