Hi I've applied to study English Language and Literature and the deadline for submitting written work is fast approaching. My college accepts it sent by email, which would have been my preferred way to say it, however I am unsure as to what to say in the email I send. What should the subject be and do I need to write any form of message?

Check if there are any guidelines. If not, make the subject something sensible like "English Language and Literature - Written Work" and just write a normal email along the lines of "I have applied for English Language and Literature at XXXX College and have attached my written work to be submitted." and maybe add your UCAS number or something.

How strict are the colleges with the words count? Because I'm currently 50 over, but the initial question at the top of the page takes up 20.
