The Student Room Group
Don't worry, the rats aren't inside the buildings, they loiter around the skip and the recycling bins, and they're all called 'Steve'.

The free bus comes in the mornings too, and it runs throughout the day.

The area is somewhat unsightly, but I've lived there for three years and never come across any trouble. If it makes you feel any better, there is a police station right next door!!

It's in an ideal location for public transport to Manchester, and it's a 5 minute walk to Salford precinct, which is handy.

Secure parking, and security guards on site 24/7 (Joseph is an absolute legend!!)

The rooms are a bit naff, and there's a distinct lack of any form of communal area. They were supposed to be refurbishing the place over the summer, but they didn't.

It's not great, but it could be worse; it could be Castle Irwell.

If you've any other questions I'd be more than happy to help, I know Eddie Colman Court pretty well!

Thanks a lot:smile:
So no worms and rats in my flat, you promiss?

The building doesn't look pretty on the pictures, thats why my doubts...
Didn't you have problem with daylight in the room the windows seem to be very small?
Are all the rooms the same size or it depends on flat? (mine is flat 2 room D)

What about the social life,is it easy to meet new people there?

thanks for help:smile:
In terms of daylight, you're pretty lucky to have flat 2 room D, because you will have 2 windows rather than just one! It's also a decent sized room, but yes the room size does depend upon the flat.

It's pretty good in terms of meeting new people, when there are parties on, although some people can be pretty unsociable, and until you get to know more people (which you will) it can sometimes feel a little isolated.

But yeah, there are no rats or worms inside the buildings. Flies can be a huge problem in the summer though, I once broke my finger swotting the pesky things.

LOL as mentioned earlier 'Steve' parties around the back of the skips outside of the building, there are no rats or bugs or spiders in Eddie Coleman.

There is a big police station next door and Salford shopping precinct is very close which is handy for getting your shopping back from tescos. The Salford shopping centre is good because it has everything we need and is cheap, my favourite shop is 'Bargin Booze'.

Salford is fairly run down but I have never had any problems with the locals nor have I heard of any other student having problems. I am a southerner and thought I might get grief, but the locals are friendly.

You will not really spend any time in Salford anyway, Manchester city centre is 1.5 miles away and that's where all the social stuff happens. The only downside to Salford is there are not really any pubs local to ECC or JLC that are good for students, but the train is £1.20 return into Manchester and a taxi back late at night is about £7.

The accommodation rooms are functional and nothing special but they are not awful either, the lack of social space is a downer but we tend to gather on the grass outside weather permitting. There will be lots of parties and stuff inside though. I found the laundry to be a good social area, you get people with stereos and booze hanging about in there.
I'm leaving Eddie Colman/John Lester today after 3 years to go live in the big wide world. :frown:

Just thought I'd share this with you (attachment)...
