writing to hospital

hiya

i was wondering if anyone has ever written to their local hospital before?
i'm on the waiting list for an operaiton and i just want to query a few things to them about it. i've rang them up but the women on the phone is useless and i can't book an appointment because i'm working everyday and then i go spain for two weeks then i'll be going to uni so i've got no chance of seeing them face to face.

i just want to ask how long will i have to wait for my treatment because it's getting me really down and i'm considering going private (I can't afford it but i'll have too) because it's going to have an adverse affect on my studies at uni.

do you think they're going to reply or justy bin it?

When I was on a waiting list you could just ring and they'd let you know approimately how long you still had to go - would it be worthwhile ringing again and asking to be put through to someone more senior who might be able to answer your questions?

Or, maybe you could go and see your GP and explain to him/her that you're off to uni soon and you really need this op before you go. They might be able to pull a few strings and get you bumped up the list a bit, or at the very least they should be able to find out how long it's going to be.

its denistry so its impossible for it to be sorted before i go uni. all i want is a approx date for when everything kick off. i.le my braces. i asked the women if she could tell me (on the phone) and she just said no and that was it. so i'm thinking of writing to the department and the consultants secretary.

I haven't written about anything like that before but I have contacted my consultants secretary direct by phone to enquire about such matters and that has always proved successful.

I'm battling with my local PCT at the moment for funding for an operation and have a good success rate with replies from various people (granted they've not been replying to tell me any good news but at least they replied!) including people quite high up so it's always worth a go
