Would I be an idiot to reject UEA for Sheffield for Economics?

You have to look at which course is more interesting to you, where you will get more out of the uni experience and are more likely to meet the grade requirements.

I've already met both requirements, I want to go into IB and I understand that there's aren't necessarily target universities however, would going to an RG such as Sheffield (as it is perhaps recognised in the financial industry) give me the edge when trying to secure internships?

RG doesn't mean anything to you as an undergrad or to an employer who isn't a researcher so I wouldn't worry about it. RG unis are research intensive and undergrads typically don't go anywhere near research.

Providing ur a stellar candidate, you could make it to IB from any uni in the UK. Prestige of uni matters in IB, so I would choose Sheffield

Why are you deciding now? You have *months* to accept/reject offers. No rush... do your research and pick the course you most prefer.

They are both good universities, but don't get caught up on this talk of Russell Group universities. Every university has their strength for different reasons, and UEA actually ranks above a lot of Russell Group universities in league tables. We're proud to be a UK Top 15 university.

I'd recommend taking a look at Unistats where you can compare the two courses at each university. Pulling out some of the stats around Economics at both Sheffield and UEA I can see the views of students suggest we have the edge here.

We know from Unistats the cost of living in Norwich is relatively low, and our accommodation and private accommodation in the area is very competitive compared to bigger cities. According to the latest National Student Survey our Economics course is ranked first for academic support and second for overall student satisfaction.

Moreover as well as being Top 15 we are consistently a Top 5 university for student satisfaction overall (National Student Survey) and within the World Top 100 for research excellence (Leiden Ranking 2016). As I say, with stats like this I wouldn't get too hung up on the RG label. And as others mention above, there's no rush to decide
