    Hi everyone! My maths teacher just told us about some maths challenge coming up and you can get like a certificate for it. Does anyone know what a maths challenge is cause I'm clueless about it!

    It's probably this. As the senior challenge has already been done, you're probably doing the intermediate challenge.

    there aren't any textbook but there are some past papers online, i took the exam last year and flunked it lol

    It's probably some maths questions that your teacher will give you. Some questions may be tricky but it's all your effort and knowledge of how to answer this particular types of question. :yep:

    (As far as I'm aware - this is what it is at my school)
    You sit in exam conditions within your school for around an hour, and answer loads of maths questions that are 'thinking outside the box' style.
    If you do well you get a certificate. If you don't, you lose nothing.

    Actually, there are textbooks. You can buy a book called "First Steps for Problem Solvers" (for the Junior Challenge) or "A Problem Solver's Handbook" (for the Intermediate Challenge) via the UKMT website, however, these are aimed at the olympiad (follow-on rounds), but will still help substantially.
