Hi I was wondering if anyone has any advice for someone considering building surveying as a degree. I'm also wondering which unis are good and if anyone who is currently studying it could let me know how they find it. Thanks!

Any course you do choose to take in Building Surveying, make sure it's accredited by a professional body (such as RICS) - otherwise it's pretty useless

Thanks for the advice! would you say that there are any universities that are particularly good for building surveying or does the uni not really matter?

I went to London South Bank Uni and it was pretty crap - I have a good job now so that shows it doesn't really matter - however if you had a choice I'd choose the best uni for Building Surveying. I've heard the University of West England (in bristol), reading university and Kingston university are pretty good. Again, just make sure they have RICS accredited courses.

Thanks that's so helpful I'm actually applying for construction management as well now but I think the unis you mentioned would still be good for that too. Also would you say that the building surveying course is hard or is it alright as some people have said it's quite difficult so I'm not too sure.

Sorry for the late reply - Building Surveying isn't too hard. It's a broad subject so there will always be modules you don't like or find harder but that would be the case for most courses. The hardest thing most people find is contract law - its hard to get your around all that!
