My daughter attends before and after school club my son goes to nursery. Tax credits wont pay childcare help because im not working. My son gets his 15 hours funding in January. So from jan cant claim dependants grant for him. But can i claim childcare dependants grant for my son between sept and dec? Can i also claim seperately for my daughter for the year? If not if im better financially claiming the grant can i refuse the free hours?

Hi there.

Student Finance only pay for up to 85% of your costs towards Childcare so it is not wise to decline free hours.

We will pay Childcare for any periods you are actually a student, so as long as you're studying between September and December and you are using a registered Childcare Provider then yes, we will still be able to offer you CCG.

Thanks.
