depends on the course. i know a person whose got onto law this yr with ABB when it asked for AAA, but i have a friend who needed ABB for history got BBBB but didn't get in. the size of the course and department is a big factor
I got an offer for Biomed for ABB, I got BCC and still got in. But my marks were just under the next grade by 5 marks, 2 marks and 4 marks. A bit ghey really.
Sheffield Hallam or University of Sheffield. Got uncondiational from both (applied during gap year) and I got BEE.... was not the correct points/grades for either.

That will be because through clearing biomed only ask for CCC providing you have done chemistry and another 'relevant' science. Although personally I swear if you get C at A-level, surely you're going to struggle at degree-level.
Once the uni has told you no though, begging wil not change their mind.

Yeah just depends how popular the degree is Media compared to Law/Psychology.
Well if the person 'struggles' at A levels they are either going to be a late developer or struggle and get a 2.2, or drop out after first or second year (I compared Hallam to Uni of Sheff and 52% Hallam got 2.1 or above whereas 75% of Uni got 2.1 or above).

It varies depending on course and how many places are spare that year. They would always rather have somebody they accepted who didn't make the grade than a completely random person through clearing who also didn't make the grade.
Oh please! Now I would never say that Sheffield Hallam as an institution is terrible, and if we ignore academic prowess it really doesn't matter but let's not pretend it is academically in the same league as Sheffield Uni. It's like saying that "For some things, Accrington Stanley are better than Manchester United"

well yeh for 95% of the courses but for the courses that Sheffield don't do, you have to say Hallam can win those lol!
Exactly Hallam is a different sort of Uni because it offers different courses. Bit like asking what is better Rugby League or Union. Two of the same sport but very very different. I do Sociology which is offered everywhere. However I choose Hallam as it is most suited to me and I love it. B ut I am hating it when people 'dis' Hallam when they are just going on what??? Just hear say. They dont have much proof. If you look at the latest The Times league tables although Hallam is miles behind Uni, employability then it is only 10% behind!!! So considering you need lower grades to get in, then you are only slightly behind on employability. However stastics can be misleading and subjective.
For Psychology at Uni this year, I got offered AABB and I got BBBC, got in.
I know someone on the course however who was offered AAB and got ABB and was turned down. I honestly dont know how that happens, but maybe the emails I sent to the admissions tutor saying thanks for the open day etc made a difference...
