grr.. its quite annoying how most men manage to eat whatever they want and stay skinny while some of us girls put on weight by just looking at a bar of chocolate!... but anyway, I think when a guys skinnier then me its abit wrong, dont ask me why :s-smilie:

My anonymous friend, you should really take the good advice from many people posting in this thread and do a little weight training. No need to do ‘bodybuilding,’ that word suggests turning yourself into a muscle-bound beast!

Simple weight exercises such as bench presses will expand your chest, and upright rows and lateral lifts will give you bigger, rounder delts (shoulder muscles). If you’re skinny and you don’t like the appearance personally (forget what others think about you,) train your shoulders a bit and when you wear a shirt, it will give the appearance of a more well-built man.

If you don’t know how to do the 3 exercises above, just google them!
Hope this helps.

Sorry to highjack the thread, well im also a guy, 5ft 11 or 6ft, 21 years of age, weigh around 11 stone and 3 pounds. Is that skinny (bear in mind, ive just crept into the "healthy" range when testing by BMI)

Well... I'm 6"2, 22 years old and around 10 and a half stone. I've been 11 in the past when I did press ups and arm weights every day. Tbh, I don't really care now. According to my doctor I'm within the healthy range (at the low end of the scale though). I've never had any problems getting girls... the occasional few girls I've met who prefer bigger guys are generally jealous of skinny guys!
I do find it amusing when people say "eat more" like I'm starving myself or something... some people just have high metabolisms. It's nothing to worry about, you don't need to put on weight and you shouldn't change yourself for the opposite sex anyway. Screw 'em. Girls aren't nearly as shallow as guys - your most attractive quality is your confidence. Got no confidence? That's what you need to work on... not your weight. Besides, you'll probably fill out and by the time you're 30/40 you'll wish you were skinny again. Make the most of it!

hey, my bf is 22 and weighs like 8 stone. when he was younger he had appendicitis and he was very very close to dying and as a consequence he was unable to grow and gain weight properly. so he's really short and skinny but it's just him!!!everyone's a different size and the way you are is just the way you are really isnt it? I think my bf's perfect and gorjus as he is and he still gets girls trying it on with him!!I'm little, so me and my bf suit each other!!!How boring would it be if everyone looked the same (the 'perfect' that I'm sure you've got in mind!) Don't worry about it, you sound lovely!!

I didn't see that anyone else had mentioned it but lots of 17/18 year old guys are very skinny - it is often only at that age that they stop growing (height-wise) and start to broaden and fill out. It could well be that if you continue to eat well and play sport/do exercise etc. that you will fill out a bit in the next couple of years.

Start drinking more beer, it'll slow that metabolism right down.

I like skinny guys, and so do a good few other lasses, so if you are worrying about your looks, you don't need to. But of course, live your life for yourself and your own happiness so feel free to ignore me.

If you are actually worried about being unhealthy, see a doctor. They can weigh you and tell you if you are a worryingly low weight. If that checks out okay, your best bet is working out. If you want bulk, do weights. If you want fitness, do tennis or something.

To answer the question, I don't really think there is such thing as being "too skinny", unless you have an eating disorder and are pushing yourself into being unaturally thin.

Secondly, lots of guys your age are very thin. Most of the ones I know are anyway. They seem to fill out later.

Thirdly, it seems that you are just naturally very slim, and I do understand that it dosn't matter how much you eat, you don't seem to put on any weight! I don't really think it matters. From the girl side of things, lots of girls like thin guys. Different people will find different kinds of people attractive. However, if it's just you who are unhappy with your current weight, and you want to be different, then it'll take a lot of effort on your part to change your natural shape. I just learnt to accept my shape. Honestly THE only way to change is eat a lot of good food ,not just loads of crap, and do low level exersice. Like weights. I know you don't want to do them, but they will increase your muscle mass, which I assume is what you want. Do play tennis if that is something that you enjoy, but it is cardio, and you will be using calories up, so make sure you keep eating lots of smaller meals throughout the day.

Good luck

How is that oh dear? He was naturally incredibly skinny, and would sit there and stuff his face with crisps and chocolate all day and do no exercise. It's just a personal preference that I like skinny guys.

No. No he isn't. Russell Brand is a greasy, sweaty, hamster faced maniac whose only redeeming charm is his value to science, being the only carrier of every single STD and skin disorder known to man.

I'm in a similar situation, though shorter at 5'9" and 8 stone 8lb. There are girls out there who like guys who are rather thin, since taste in the opposite sex seems to vary widely. If you do want to put on weight then either some sort of sport that requires a good deal of strength (rather than just cardio ability) would probably be good. I quite like the gym so I've started with weights again after a fair while. When I was last at the gym I found it's quite easy to put on a good amount of weight relatively quickly, which is good. Just ignore all the people who talk about how lucky you are to have a fast metabolism and that lot, they're silly.
