Cuts, scrapes and bruises not healing?

Hey all

Well anyway over the last couple of months I've been noticing that if I cut myself it takes an age to heal. For example I cut myself shaving 4 months ago and this is it only starting to heal up properly (The pink bit left by a scab fading). I have similar scrapes from where I have hurt myself for weeks and months ago and most of them just seem to have stopped healing altogether.

Now I have never in my life taken this long to heal up after hurting myself:s-smilie:
Also I seem to be bruising incredibly easily these days. Not just the odd bruise bt lots of them just appear when I've not done anthing to cause them.

Anyone have any idea why?

I'd go to your GP and get it checked out, it could be a wide variety of things ranging from being completely normal to something more serious and people guessing here will probably only lead to freaking you out. Your GP will probably take some blood and get it tested.

This is another of the 80% of threads in here where the only sensible advice can be: Go to a GP. It needs to be at least examined, and you'll probably need a blood test.

go to ure doctor and have a blood test and the answers probably lie there, it wont be anything life threatenangly serious hopefuly, its most likely a low platlet count, which is involved in healing of bood vessles.

go and get it checked out

Up your vitamin C and water intake. Hope you get better soon!

Go to your doctor, that simply isn't natural/healthy. I badly cut and bruised my shin trying to jump up, onto a trailer a week ago. The cuts and bruises took around a week to heal (it would have taken less if i didn't keep walking into things or picking the scab), so, unless i'm superhuman, what you are experiencing isn't healthy and could be life threatening.

You could be a haemophiliac (but hopefully it should have been diagnosed when you were a lot younger), you could have a simple mineral and/or vitamin deficiency (iron, vit K, vit c, etc), you might have an unbalanced diet (insufficient protein in the diet can make it very difficult for your body to repair itself and grow), basically, it could be anything and the only way to get it diagnosed and sorted is to pay your doctor(in the non sexual context) a visit.

Bit random?

DOCTOR: We've got a patient in the advanced stages of hypothermia. He's got a core temp of 30oC and has lost unconscienceness. What are we going to do?
HEALTH & RELATIONSHIPS ADVISOR DANNI: Up his vit c and water intake and he should be fine:smile:

30 mins later the patient dies. Fin.

to be fair vitamin c helps the immune system. so taking abit more may help reduce the likelihood of these cuts becoming infected.

but the op might be better with Vitamin K and A

Thanks, also water helps the flow of these nutrients, which the body needs.

Sorry I wasn't *that* much help, I usually give better adivce but I have the flu myself and it totally sucks! I came on here for advice about tickly throats

sounds like you have low platelets in your bloodstream..., like if you get a bloody cut, does it take a long time for it to scab up/clot up?

if so, you should get a blood test...
