My English Literature and Language target grades are set unrealistically high at 8s however my recent performance looks more like a 2.
When it comes to information retrieval questions, I can do that easily, much like everyone else, however when it comes to any other questions that require analysing quotes and techniques I simply blank out and can't think about why they are used and what they mean. When questions ask for my own thoughts and feelings about an extract I have nothing to write. If I know someone else's thoughts and feelings then I can write an answer based on that. Also, evaluation questions are really vague and I have no idea what I'm supposed to be evaluating.
I'm awful when it comes to creative writing because I can never think about anything to write. If I already have someone else's fully developed plot then I can write about that. However without that, I write extremely slowly. The quality is good, but it is just never enough to score many marks. On my school's history trip in Belgium, I worked on writing a story for homework in my spare time on the coach and before bed but over the 6+ hours of trying to write, I had barely written 200-300 words when I should be aiming for 450-600 in just 45 minutes.
I've got more English mocks coming up and the real thing is only months away but I have not improved since the start of year 10 despite attending after school revision sessions and out-of-school private tuition. What should I do?

I'm lacking emotions, empathy and thoughts and feelings for extracts. How do I good? watch
