In a previous post i spoke about a man who i haf sex with, since then i have found out he gave me genital herpes and i went through hell with it, but the first breakout is over and since i have also met a guy that i am seeing and we are very happy. He knows about what happened and after doing some research and a lot of thinking he wanted to have unprotected sex (i am on the pill for looking after pregnancy). I trusted that he wouldnt get herpes because of how long it had been unactive for and he hadnt had any symptoms. However i have and they dont seem to be normal herpes system. Straight after sex i bled...for 2 days straight without expecting to come on (i am regular and was taking my pill as normal). I thought it had stopped but on the third day there was a very metally smell, something i had when first getting herpes. I assumed it would be the start of an outbreak as i know sex can bring them on however instead i have had this thick brown blood/discharge and the smell has gone and im getting quite a lot of stomach cramps. I really have no idea what this is and has been going on about for about a week. I have had a chlamydia test done recently and came back clear, is this a different std? Herpes symptoms? Pregnancy or ovulation related? Any help would be appreciated, im too nervous to go to the doctor without knowing what it could be at all, im also really scared of and dont trust my doctor, could i ask to see the nurse i like or do i need to go to a sexual health clinic?

It could be a variety of things, including just the after effects of particularly vigorous sex = it's sexual health clinic time.

It would be worth going and seeing someone about your symptoms. The sexual health clinic is one option they can examine you and see if there is anything that they need to do. They may direct you back to your GP if they feel that it is an issue which falls outside of their remit. You mention that you don't trust your GP, are there any other doctors at your practice that you could see? It might be worth in the long run trying to see if you could switch GP surgeries as not being able to trust your GP is a pretty big barrier to getting a reasonable standard of care.

You need to go to a GUM clinic. Sexually Transmitted Infections quite often come in pairs. If he gave you genital herpes there's a good chance he's given you something else too.

I would be extremely surprised if wherever diagnosed the HSV didn't check for other infections then... but this is now.

I'd go to a Sexual Health Clinic immediately as the quicker you get checked out, the less likely any long term damage will occur. Hopefully, they'll be able to diagnose you (if there is anything wrong) but there is a chance you'll get a referral to a GP or another specialist. Ask your practice if there's a possibility of switching GP's (I switched GP's a few months back) and if not, try registering with another GP practice in your local area, if there is one. Sometimes there are Gynecologists within GP offices so call up and ask if you could make an appointment with them, but sometimes they need a referral from a GP.

Also, don't worry about not knowing what all your symptoms mean, it's the doctor's job to figure that out. Sometimes, I find that researching symptoms makes things worse as you often worry about having some life threatening illness when in reality, it's something that can be treated with some medication.

I hope this helps and I hope things work out okay x
