I had a look at the graduate jobs on British airways, and one of the perks they offer is that they offer stand-by flights anywhere in the world on their (and some partner airlines).

    What does this mean?

Is this a free flight to anywhere as long as there is space?

    For employees it's usually free.

For normal people it might be a bit cheaper, say if you are early or late and want to take that plane. The only catch is fully paying customers get priority.

I think it means that if there is space you can get on the flight. I've flown on stand by before- you just have to check flight passanger loading numbers and see if there might be space. No point turning up to a flight which is already booked up, but if there is space you might even get bumped to upper class! Id say its a real perk to be able to travel so cheaply- usually you just have to pay the tax.
