Hi guys i really need help with this maths problem.

you are tiling the walls and floor of a bathroom with tiles that are 500mm x 500mm. The bathroom is 2.5m high and the door, which is not tiled is 2m x 1m. It takes 80 tiles to tile the floor and 176 tiles to tile the walls. What are lengths of the bathroom walls?

Let x and y be the length of the bathroom walls. Now write an expression for the area of the floor, then set that equal to the area of the tiles that you know it takes. Do the same for the walls. You now have two equations in two unknowns, so can solve for them.

One more hint. The tile area should be in square metres, to match the metres used in teh other numbers, so a tile's ares is 500mm * 500mm = 0.5m * 0.5m = 0.25 m^2.
