Ashburne is sort of shaped like a U, and Lees is the left arm of the U.

(I spent the last two years in Ashburne )

Sheavyn/Ashburne looked awesome when I went to visit the other week. I'm doing Biology and staying in Sheavyn as well, and it's about a 20 minute walk to the biology building.

firstly, how do you decode the description of your accomodation offer?
My 'residence details' are as follows:

what the hell does that mean?

I'm hoping that's not the bottom floor. i dont wanna get broken into. if it is on the ground floor are you allowed to add extra window locks?

second question, what exactly are the sports facilities there/near there? i find the accomodation booklet and website generally unhelpful and nothing is very clear. is there an astroturf near there or what? thats the way they made it sound in the booklet but i cant find any more info on this.

um, are there any pictures of the rooms or kitchens or whatever apart from the one or two on the website? i just wanna know where im gonna hide my mini fridge and so on.

if anyone could help me out id be really grateful, thanks!

Thats like the nicest halls in fallowfield! If you dont want it...:p:

The Armitage centre is near there, which is a gym, tennis courts big astroturf for football hockey etc.

No, that's the first floor, and no, you're not. But (along with Ashburne) it's the hall with the most CCTV, and overlooked by other halls on three out of four sides - you'd have to be mad to break in though a window. In general, most thefts in halls take place where people have left their doors unlocked.

Yes (see my profile).

I spent two years in Ashburne, I'm renting in Moss Side now

Yes, you do  But if you want to bring your own, you can... but I wouldn't advise it if your room's small, so best to wait until you're there, and pop in to the .instore behind Ashburne if you're so inclined (this goes for cooking things in general too).

And you don't get anything provided in the kitchens (well, ok, you get the things you'd expect (fridge, freezer, microwave, tabletop oven & hobs/cooker, sink), and the first year we also had a draining rack. However... I wouldn't bother carting kitchen stuff in, since it's only more to take back if you don't use it. You won't need to cook evening meals immediately, since they usually take the Freshers out somewhere, and there's always the cafe at Owen's Park - just bring your cutlery and crockery, and something for breakfast/lunch if you're arriving at the weekend. You can buy it locally when you arrive at .instore (walk down Old Hall Lane till you get to a big road, turn right, and carry on walking till you spot some big shops on the other side), Sainsburys (cheap, nasty, and bound to run out) or an Aladdin's Cave of a shop in the Curry Mile that I've forgotten the name of. Or, of course, anywhere in Manchester.
