I do not mean to be rude but I do not see a point in having a pet.
But dog owners treat their pets like children.

Yes but it is hassle to look after a dog.
Dogs are like children but children grow up

Because dogs are like our little children.
You won't understand unless you have one.

I find this so bloody weird too. Especially when they nuzzle the dog and it licks their lips and :puke:

Why dog owners specifically?
Either way, pets can become part of the family and when a strong bond is built between someone and their pet, I'd assume it'd be very difficult to not care and love them so much.

This :yep:

All the pets I've had, both cats and dogs, have become nothing less than family and when you lose one of them, it is like losing a member of the family, despite what people say. You do end up treating them like human members of the family, sometimes like children but at the end of the day, as long as the animal is well looked after and is happy and the owner is happy, I don't see nothing wrong with treating your pet like your child or other family member

You just need to know how to communicate with a dog and then you understand each other.
