The driving force has to increase in line with air resistance to ensure a constant resultant force.

So if the resultant force is 5N, the driving force must always be 5N more than the air resistance.

Air resistance is a function of speed through the air, so the driving force must increase. Do you know an expression for how air resistance depends on speed?
