Hello, I am currently taking the new spec for Psychology under the AQA exam board and im honestly quite worried. We have been given 2 specimen papers with a limited number of questions for the A level paper and im just not feeling comfortable at the moment. If anyone has been given a exam question pack by their school or has got anything like this then please could you share it as right now im stuck on what to do.
    Thanks

You could use past paper questions for your topics from other exam boards and from the specification tested before the reforms because the content will be similar, just be aware of what you need to know for your specification only so you don't confuse yourself with unnecessary things from the other specifications.

For the descriptive (A01) questions know all definitions and what to write for every topic e.g. know the types of experiments if asked to describe in the research methods section, the definitions of abnormality for the psychopathology topic, behavioral/emotional/cognitive aspects of depression and OCD etc. It also helps to have examples to help explain them.

You could also plan answers for the longer evaluation (A02) type questions, so the strengths and weaknesses for every topic. You can practice the PEEL technique that we use, where you give your Point, give Evidence for it (examples, theories, approach, assumptions, studies) you then Explain it and Link it back to the question (why is it a strength/weakness?)

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do in the apply it (A03) questions apart from exam question practice but if you know your stuff it won't be hard.

Finally, know what the questions is asking of you. If a question asks you to describe, you describe it. If it's an "Outline and evaluate" or "Discuss" questions then you describe and give the strengths/weaknesses.

I've given you advice for specifically the AQA specification, hope that helps.
