This is a very petty arguement as both Soviet Stalinism and global capitalism are systems void of benefits for those at the bottom of the pile.

What would you suggest, then?

I know - I was just proving a point. Socialism is far better than either of them in my opinion.

Free love.

For short-term solutions, I suggest you read George Monbiots "Age of Consent".

I'm thinking the notion of video games (or the media in general) being responsible for murders is a complete pile of wank. I used to love playing GTA3 and went on completely random and pointless killing sprees just for the fun of it. But have I killed anything larger than a spider (except that bird i accidentally hit the other week - sorry birdie)? No i bloody well haven't and nothing like that could ever incite me to. Much in the same way that having read girly magasines adorned with pictures of skinny models since I was 13 hasn't persuaded me that eating disorders are the only way i'll ever be happy.

The problem with this nutter kid had to have been there before and maybe the game triggered it. But thats no reason to ban games which have a bizarre effect on a handful of people. And besides if it wasn't the game that triggered it, something else eventually would have.

Acutaly I've heard the concept of free love as being a communist one - no one is allowed to marry as it effectivly means that you have a kind of ownership over that person and they arn't allowed to do certain things (like go and have flings).

Wow - we're back on topic now.
BTW - I heard that he lured his victim into the woods and then stabbed him repeatedly before going at his face with a basball bat - is this true? Also i've heard that the real reason he killed him was because his victim was popular but he wasn't.

Cuba compared to Angola.

Facts about Cuba:
Population 11,184,023
Literacy 95.7%
Life Expectancy 74.02 male, 78.94 female
GDP (per capita) $1,700

Facts about Angola:
Population 10,366,031
Literacy: 42%
Life Expectancy: Male = 37.36 Female = 39.87
GDP (per capita): $1,000

However this is all very off-topic.

Angola????? Hardly a capitalist state my friend, in fact the current President Mr Dos Santos was educated in the Soviet Union, the ruling MPLA political party has Marxist connections in Cuba and the Former Soviet union. Here are some well little known facts about Angola......

"Government-controlled media are predominant. Angola's only news agency, Angop, and the only daily newspaper, Jornal de Angola, are state-owned and carry little criticism of the government.

The constitution provides for freedom of expression but the government does not always respect this and the few independent media continue to be attacked, harassed and threatened".

Nice try

How can you say using a third world country doesn't count? Thats like saying you must find a communist nation with less povety than a capitalist nation but the capitalist nation must have more money than the communist one.

Since you used India in your previous example I take it that I can use that.
Therefore: China compared to India.

Facts about China:
Population 1,273,111,290
Literacy 81.5%
Life Expectancy 69.81 male, 73.59 female
GDP (per capita) $3,600

Facts about India:
Population 1,029,991,145
Literacy 52.0%
Life Expectancy 62.22 male, 63.53 female
GDP (per capita) $2,200

You are trying to make out that communism is successful at wiping out poverty, therefore it is only logical to compare two countries that have used two opposing models (communism / capitalism) to their benefit, now while i can think of many capitalist countries that have done this i cannot think of many communist countries that have.

BTW - Angola is a communist nation  .

Yes but the problem with these comparisions is that the nations that communism takes hold in tend to be poor to start off with (thus triggering the populus to rise up and attempt to end their hardships) and are therefore at an imediate disadvantage.

Not according to my political maps but thats passed now.

Video games don't affect kids. If Pacman affected kids, they'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music.

Old joke, but still funny
