If you get a bad isa result but you get a*s in your other tests, would you still be able to get an overall result of a*?

It depends on how bad your ISA was. It's 25% of the GCSE and you need 90% overall to get an A* so if you lose more than 10% overall on the ISA (i.e. get 60% on less in it) then an A* is numerically impossible.
