I went to study Chinese in Shanghai for 8 weeks, which was a requirement from my course. I went to Fudan University, was helped by Go Abroad China (GAC) and didn't have any major problems, my advisor at school didn't find any major issues with them also. Besides the learning, I also actually enjoyed living in Shanghai for that time, it is fast becoming like any other large city here in Britain. Of course people will be worried about scams and what not, I know because its a great possibility, but sometimes rules in China foreigners cannot trully understand them. What I can advise is to research a good agency, find out if housing and visa can be sorted - they are the most important things of you need to study abroad.
