Arguments for the cold war being inevitable; that it was almost certain to happen and why and any possible counter arguments that can be made that state that the Cold War wasn't inevitable.

After WWII left USA and USSR as the only two superpowers left with such diametrically opposed systems of government, arguably yes.

If you're asking it was inevitable prior to WWII, then certainly not. Any of the countries could've emerged as superpowers, it could've been Russia and China leading us into a communist future. Or Britain and America basically starting the modern era 35 years early.
