Hello All,

I gradutaed in 2013 with a degree in biomedical science.

I really want to pursue a career in biomedical science 3 years later but unfortunately I have no experience, I didn't even do a placement year at uni.

Could someone please please tell me how I could get some experience in a lab even if it is badly paid or unpaid. I have nothing to put on my CV for biomed other than my degree.

Any advice would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance!

Have you applied for assistant jobs in laboratories?

There are plenty of Band 2 roles in laboratories with the NHS.. Medical lab assistants, healthcare technical officers, human tissue assistants. Most require no previous lab experience and a few GCSEs.

I graduated in 2014, a classmate of mine who did not do the placement year, gained a medical lab assistant role, then eventually gained a Band 4 assistant practitioner role and now is working as a Trainee Biomed. For this though she did have to move for each job, so I would say you would need to be flexible in your location.

I've been MLA for past nine years still looking for trainee Biomedical Scientist post. I left my home town😢 just to progress in my field but unfortunately no luck. Any advice?? Thanks
