To get an A* in GCSE maths you needed to know pretty much everything in the syllabus. No use being good at transformations of trigonometric graphs, histograms, vectors and algebraic proof if you don't understand box plots, can't estimate a mean from grouped data, are confused with interior and exterior angles, are totally confounded by bearings and make a mess of trial and improvement. You have to learn everything! Of course you can only get an A* in AQA GCSE maths if you are resitting this summer, otherwise it's a grade 9 or 8.

It was never really true that there were A* topics at GCSE but the harder questions did tend to regularly feature certain topic areas. This is even more true with the new specification, you could for example face an easy (level 5) vectors question or hard one (level 9) depending on how the question is asked. The mathsgenie.co.uk web site might suit you as it presents topics loosely linked to levels with revision videos and practice questions. You might think about getting an exam practice workbook and a revision guide e.g. from CGP as they indicate the rough level of difficulty of questions.
