Yes you are the first one to ever have this revolutionary thought.

It depends on the requirements for each course.

I changed from Biology to Plant Science half way through my second year.. i was allowed too because Plant Science has very lenient requirements (that i will have done 50% non-specified plant modules by the end of my degree)

Biology however, has very tight requirements.. speak to the school offices, they'll be able to tell you whether it'll be possible and by which point you'll have to decide if it is!

you probably will be allowed to change but you have to speak to your tutor about it and let the biology department know.you'd then have to contact the psychology department, find out if you meet their requirements and they'll let you know if it's ok to change or not.

You'd probably have problems swapping to psycho just coz it's meant to be a really popular course. My friend at Notts tried to swap from Biochem to Neuroscience and they said no as the course was full. Another mate considered swapping from economics and french to economics and maths but about 10 others wanted to swap to maths too and they only had one place.x

you should be ok re requirements, but I know the course is super popular and it always seems to be full...unless you are an overseas student paying a higher fee rate, and then they seem to have no problem finding you a place.

I think it should be fine. I had hall mates swapping from psychology to maths and from economics to politics, lol.

It's easier to swap from less competitive subjects, e.g. Economics to say Politics than from Plant Sciences to Law.

I changed my course twice. once before i got to uni (i changed from history and ancient history to history and archaeology) and then a few weeks after i got there i realised archaeology wasn't for me, and i asked to change to just history but they wouldn't let me until the end of the semester. in fact they wanted me to continue until the end of the year to give myself more time to like it. so if you want to try to change, i would do it before term starts.

Wee_retty - you can hardly blame them for stopping you! You've changed like 3 times - they probably wanted to make sure you weren't just doing a spur of the moment thing.

Anyway, as to the OP - it depends if you meet the requirements for Psychology. If you have the relevant A-Levels and there is space on the course, they will probably let you switch. Depends on how strict they are with your A-Level grades as well. If you do it after a while though you'll end up wasting a year on top of the fact that they will then look at your module grades instead of A-Levels, which means if you don't do well in Bio you're screwed. So if you wanna switch, switch early. As soon as possible - you don't wanna waste a year and certainly you don't wanna have paid for a year uselessly.

It's perfectly possible to switch but I wouldn't come in expecting that they WILL let you switch, as they might not. If you know you wanna switch, then do it now. Remember especially that Psychology is a fairly popular course, so if there's no space, then they're not gonna let you in. I switched, however, from Neuroscience to Art History  My module marks in that instance didn't matter one bit cus they're completely unrelated courses lol.
