Need help with this chemistry question

Screenshot_20161120-155455.png for this question why is the conc divided by 2. The explanation is because only 500cm`3 of solution is made and but u are mixing with the acid though...so surely this is not the volume of the final solution right ??

0.5696M is the concentration, dividing by 2 is just another way of saying multiplying by 0.5dm3. It is a pretty strange way to write it though. Since the sodium ethanoate is added as a solid, it will not increase the volume of the liquid.
