Tesco metro interview, was asked to bring passport and NI card

Ok, it's me again. I received a phone call from a Tesco metro supermarket this morning. They invited me for an interview which is tomorrow morning. I was also asked to bring my passport and national insurance card. Does that mean I have good chances? What is the interview likely to be, group interview or just me? Will there be an assessment? How should I prepare myself? What should I wear? Please help me, I never had a job before.)

I got a job at my Tesco Metro a month ago, I was asked to bring the same stuff and got the job! Its an individual interview, they just keep writing while you answer questions, the first questions are the hardest, well that's what they told me because its stuff like, 'why do you want to work for Tesco.. what was a recent set back..' etc etc. You can't really prepare yourself, just try and talk as much as possible, not stupid amounts though. I wore jeans and a black and white stripped jumper. After my interview I was told the next day I got the job and I was told to come in for the induction which was with two other people, that will all come later if you get the job. I never had a job before and was thinking what do I tell them but they didn't care and didn't stop me getting the job. Good luck.

Don't worry too much, if you've bean called to interview somewhere like Tesco, you've probably got the job. The only real reason not to get it is if you are too expensive (ie over 18 when they want 16 year olds) or want a temp contract and they don't want to have to train you. Those two reasons alone account for the vast majority of job rejections. As I know only too well...

Since they are interviewing you, you obviously meet their criteria so they just want to see if 1. You're not brain-dead. 2. You have a pulse 3. You seem like someone likely to defraud them.

As a general rule, once you've got to interview, you'll get the job.

Tesco ask you to bring along your passport and NI number to ensure you are legal to work in the UK, it does not mean you will be offered the job because you were asked to bring them along to an interview.

Tesc normally employ students who have never had jobs before so im sure you'll be fine.

Ok, this is how it went (I mean sucked) today:
I came at 11am, and there were another 9 people who also came for the interview. They took us to a room where all the staff have their lunch. Then they gave us application forms where we had to write our details, hours we can work etc. It took about 15 minutes and then they started taking people to the interview room where one manager was asking questions from a paper, and the other one was writing down my answers. I had to wait for almost 2 hours to be invited to the interview room and I was 6th from the 10 people. I feel sorry for the one who was last. So the interview went well, they even told me about the payrate (it was 6.26 per hour). They told me they would call me by 3pm to tell me if I passed the interview. So I received a call at 3.30pm and was told I passed it but the days/time I am available are not suitable and that there are people who match the available times better than me. It sounded like complete bull**** to me. On the CV I originally wrote that I want part time. So in the application form I stated that I can work 7am to 11pm both weekends, after 1pm on Wednesday and after 5pm the rest of the days. Obviously I am not available 7am to 11pm every day because I am off to uni in a month! I guess thats what they wanted to see (7am to 11pm every day). That just sucks, I really cannot believe it. I mean what do they expect from a person who can only do part time?!?!

By the way they said they'll keep the form for a month in case if they have something available, but I don't care now, I know they won't call me.
