Yer every other Thursday at the union. £5 entry. Blinds go up so fast it's 95% luck. If you like your poker then you'll have no problem in Southampton. 3 casinos.

Yeh, I'm tempted.

I like the idea of playing for money more even if they buy-in is only like £5 as people seem to get a bit stupid when it's just for fun.

I would be careful though - 3 lads in my flat in the first year did this with their entire loan :frown:

Poker Soc is probably safer.

I might just play poker with mates instead of joining the soc  Wont be able to use my poker table til the second year tho (if it lasts that long)

haha I never play online or anything just £5 buy-in tournaments with my mates. It's a great game though.
Woot  I'm going to have to join.

When I went to the Maths open day, the Maths department was littered with A4 poker posters, so I thought it was pretty big there. But once every two weeks!?!

Why's that? A poker table isn't really that mandatory to play poker :p:

poker soc sounds good
the grosvenor has a free roll too i have been to on tuesdays with cash prize and the players are not that great (cause its free!)
You canalso go to some of the pool clubs in town which often poker compettions..probably attracts a fairly rough crowd tho so you will have to be able to hold your own.
the problem with pokersoc is the stack of chips you get is tiny so unless you're really good or lucky your night is over in under half an hour.

Of course I'm a little jaded because the first (and only) time I went I lost all my chips in just two hands; both times I had a really strong hand but another person had pocket aces
