Shoe size and heightWatch
Do you guys think shoe size correlates with height? I have an interesting thought.
My hypothesis is that shoe size is only influenced by genetics, while height is influenced by genetics and height.
For example, I'm a 181cm (5'11.5) male with a UK 6 shoe (don't worry, I'm pretty happy hehe), and my parents are 5'7.5 and 4'10 tall. My diet was extremely calorific until 15 and I was very overweight at the time, and my weight peaked at the point where I finished growing.
Using my hypothesis, the reason I am tall relative to my parents is that I grew close to my "maximum height" on my genetic height range (if that even is a thing). Whereas my shoe size was directly and only influenced by genetics, in which both of my parents have small feet, which was passed on to myself.
Maybe the biology is more complex than this, but using my idea, despite observed correlation between height and shoe size, there maybe outliers due to factors such as diet (over/undereating) or weightlifting stunting growth etc.
