Bringing Your Own T.v.

Some questions answered for those of us who want to bring a T.V...
* How many and what kind of channels are available at Bath?
* Is it worth bringing a T.V; were you able to watch all the channels you usually would...or were you disappointed with the accessibility?
Any info about your experience of bringing a television to Bath would be appreciated.

I had a TV in my room, and I was quite glad of it. Not because I'm a complete couch potato but because I liked having it on in the background - it made me feel less lonely at the beginning when I had a bit of homesickness! I didn't get great reception and neither did my housemates with TVs but then we were on the bottom floor of a 5 floor building which probably didn't help.

As far as I know you can only really get channels 1 - 5 if you're lucky. Freeview doesn't work in Bath at the moment, either.

Personally I liked having my TV because it had a built in DVD player. I know you can watch DVDs on computers but I find its never really the same, and it was really fun to have all my girly housemates piled onto my bed whilst watching Friends or Miss Congeniality or something!

http://www.freewiretv.com/ucas/ - free TV over the net good selection of channels and yes it works in bath and if your running it on a laptop using batteries you dont need a tv license (if the laptops plugged in you technically will)

Im bringing a tv for my wii and xbox though and im prob gunna get a tv license just to be on the safe side

Haha, you sound fun with all your consoles!I need to befriend you. Specially with that Wii! (Yes, I'm superficial and materialistic and generally an awful person, deal with it.)

Ah!Its a race, which accommodation are you in?Haha. Have you finished Zelda yet?I am absolutely not a gamer, but when it comes to the Wii, I finished all my friends games. Haha. The only game I truly love is Mario Kart though, I wonder if that will come out on the Wii, would be a bit odd though. Right?

Mario Kart Wii's not out until next year. But Mario Kart's brilliant! If I take my Gamecube with me (not decided yet if I'm taking a telly!), I'll definitely be bringing Mario Kart Double Dash... and Fifa too.

I'm hoping someone on my floor has a Wii, PS3 and/or Xbox 360. :p:

Ah yes!I'll bring my gamecube controllers! And my mario kart double dash, just in case we wear the other one out!Haha. Seriously though, I hope my room mates have some nintendo based game console. Haha. I don't really want to take my gamecube because I won't take a TV. Ach.
I can't see me using a tv that much - but I was considering bringing consoles lol :P

Maybe an N64/SNES - Mario Kart on the SNES ftw

I'd much rather be out doing things than sitting playing games mind you - good way to draw in friends I guess though

I've only got two controllers... I was meant to get more, but never got round to it. :p:

Haha, well, now we'll have four. And yeah, the SNES one was the best. But my SNES moved on to greener pastures. :frown:

I'm not going to spend all my time gaming obviously, but its fun if you don't want to go out, don't play poker and just want to have a few beers and relax.

No havent done zelda yet - i dont have the wii version bought the gamecube one before i got my wii and it kinda got put to the back of the pile once i got my wii (and its even further back now ive got bioshock too - great game)
So is anyone actually going to bring a TV/going to have a tv? It's all well and good us having all these fun consoles and games but we're going to end up just looking at them :P

And I've found a SNES and N64 - they've been put aside ready to go - I spy many hours being wasted on Mario Kart.

Meh, I'm just going to take my laptop and my collection of Family Guy and Futurama DVDs and watch them when I'm bored,.

I'm bringing my external HDD. 500GB of movies, music and TV shows!Easier than bringing my cd/dvd collection which would take two suitcases by itself.
